THE ECOLOGICAL CONDITION OF WATER RESOURCES IN BELGOROD REGION
Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, Belgorod, Russia

As a result of industrial-economic activity of population directed to the water resources of the Belgorod region annually the millions of sewage cuber meters one the fourth of them are polluted. Because of mass inflow of the contaminated substances the self-purification capacity of water resources is under critical level and cannot provide the appropriate water quality in them. For this reason the primary majority of regional water resorces refer to the category “moderate contaminated” and “contaminated” (table 1).

Table 1. Water quality of the water resources in the Belgorod region

Nr

The name of water object, aligning

The rate of contaminated water index ( IZV /water quality)

1

Severskiy Donets river (Tavoljanka station)

IZV=1,632/3, moderate contaminated

2

Vorsklitsa river (Malaya Orlovka station,45)

IZV-2,071/3, moderate contaminated

3

The Belgorod water-storage reservoir 990 km

IZV-1,327/3, moderate contaminated

4

Razumnaya river ( offing)

IZV-3,08/4, contaminated

5

Oskolets river (offing)

IZV-2,593/4, contaminated

As long-term observations show that in connection with low quality of consumed water the increased population sickness rate on endocrine system, gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, urogenital system, oncodiseases, inborn alterations and others was reported.

The noted information proves the necessity of urgent decrease of polluted water amount discharged into water bodies with enterprises and organisations sewage. This objective can be prevailed by method of new sewage disposal plants construction and increase of sewage purification efficiency at actual sewage disposal plants.

The personnel of the industrial ecology department of the Belgorod State Technological University succeed in developing the methods of sewage purification from high-density metals, phosphates, oils, oil-products and other contaminating substances. For this purpose modified and non-modified wastes of local ndustry are used. The efficiency of purification arrives at 98-99 % in all enumerated cases at their low engineering-energetical expenses.
