| Institute of Geology and Natural Resources, Tyumen, Russia |
In quadripole by running of electric flow the strain-induced asymmetry appears in a demountable electrode. Basing on this data a device was created measuring in microvolt the electric strain-field asymmetry dealt with the gravity field. The device is called electrogravimeter.
Changes of the field potential are carried out in the gravity field of the screening field with the help of a special sensor, which looks like a capacity filled with electroconductive metal, liquid or heavy gas.
A stable electric flow is conducted through the first pair of pointed symmetrically situated current supplying electrodes. In the second pair of symmetrically situated demountable electrodes the strain-electric-field asymmetry caused by the gravity field and perpendicular to the flow direction in the conductive medium is measured. The potential of the gravitation field is defined from the formula
φ = φ0 (1 – 2ф • ε • µ/с2) -1/2, where
φ – is a potential of the electric field in the presence
of the gravity field;
φ0 – potential of the electric field in the absence of the
gravity field;
a – potential of the gravity field;
ε – relative dielectric penetrability of the medium;
µ – relative magnet penetrability of the medium;
с – spreading velocity of electromagnetic field in the vacuum.
The monitoring is performed with the system of electrogravimeters situated along a free circuit with the distance 1500-2000 km between each other to be capable of locating any point of earthquake. According to a special programme the curves of the potential for the electric and gravity field are calculated. The equipment functions in a regular mode measuring the sensors every minute. Registering a sharp drop in the field potential makes it possible to forecast an earthquake 5 days in advance.
