| G.V. Kozmin | APPARATUS-METHODICAL SUPPORT OF HUMAN VITAL ACTIVITY MONITORING IN RUSSIAN TERRITORIES SUFFERED FROM MAJOR RADIATION ACCIDENTS |
| Obninsk State Technical University For Nuclear Power Engineering, Obninsk, Russian Federation |
Monitoring of human vital activity in Russian territories suffered from major radiation accidents should guarantee the supply of ecologically pure plant and animal products. It is known that the primary radiation dose that effects the human organism is stipulated by animal products, i.e.meat and milk as well as their processed products. Specific correlation dependencies are observed between radionuclide concentration in animal products and radionuclide content in ruminant muscles. Based on this principle, developed is the method for forecasting radioactive contamination of animal products from lifetime 137Cs assessment in muscles of cattle kept in Russian territories radioactively contaminated after the Chernobyl accident.
To provide urban and rural population with ecologically pure products in radioactive contamination the original method is developed and the inventors certificate is obtained on a portable radiometer for radiation monitoring of agroindustrial products. This method has been widely introduced in Bryansk region of Russia and was supported by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
The method of lifetime monitoring of animal products allowed to perfect a technology of livestock keeping in radioactively contaminated territories. A special technology provides for possible indoor maintenance of cattle and extra fattening of animals, 137Cs content in the muscles of which does not exceed the accepted standards.
This invention introduced into agricultural practice allowed the problems which are associated with the production of ecologically pure products for urban and rural population to be solved timely. The introduced method of monitoring eventually contributed to reduction of public risk in the territories suffered from the Chernobyl accident.
